A European Positive Sum Approach towards AI tools in support of Law Enforcement and safeguarding privacy and fundamental rights' (epo AI)

Objectives

The core vision of the epo AI project is to promote trust in artificial intelligence (AI) for the security domain through increased awareness, ongoing societal engagement, consolidating knowledge on the topic and providing a unified European vision by law enforcement agencies (LEAs). The goal is to create an ecosystem that provides the structural basis for a sustainable and inclusive European AI hub for law enforcement.

The above objectives will be achieved through a joint effort of 13 partners from 8 different EU member states. The project will identify the current state of AI use by LEAs and different approaches to the presence and application of AI tools in the field of security. It will bring together and involve experts and various stakeholders, including EU citizens. Finally, several sets of recommendations will be formulated for policy makers and LEAs, civil society and AI technology developers.
